The mission of Waypoint Adventure is to challenge youth and adults with disabilities to discover their purpose, talents and strengths through the transforming power of adventure.
Apply to Volunteer at Waypoint Adventure
Waypoint Adventure volunteers contribute their strengths in many ways. Volunteers help to ensure the safety and enjoyment of each participant by assisting with preparation, implementation, and wrap-up of programs. Specific roles may include: One-on-one assistance, facilitating games, belaying on ropes courses and rock climbing programs, taking photographs, engaging others in conversations, paddling tandem kayaks, assisting in the adaptation of equipment, speaking about our programs at events, and helping with administrative tasks.
Volunteers must be 16 years or older. They should annually submit a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) form and a Medical/Release of Liability form. Volunteers are asked to consider volunteering on at least 3 programs each year if possible. If you’re interested, please download forms by clicking below and return them to our Volunteer Coordinator, Steven Dastous (Use link listed below)
Also, be sure to review our Policies and Eligibility Criteria. You are only required to meet the eligibility criteria for the program types for which you intend to volunteer. Seasonal trainings are available for volunteers wanting to review or expand their outdoor skills.
Your first program will include an introduction to Waypoint staff, review of outdoor skills, and a chance to use your talents to help others enjoy the challenge of an outdoor adventure. Please consider your first program to be part interview and part service. After the program, there will be time to debrief, provide feedback, and ask questions.
Thank you again for your interest in volunteering with Waypoint Adventure! We hope to hear from you soon!
