The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs are all about inclusion in Dorchester. Their focus of building community amidst teens with and without disabilities fits seamlessly into a Waypoint adventure series. Adventures like a Ropes Course, Kayaking, and Backpacking teach us about what we are capable of as a team and that we do, in fact, need each other. It was an impactful week of zip-lining in North Andover, sea-kayaking out of World’s End Park in Hingham, and backpacking in the White Mountains. For some, it was their first time sleeping away from home and for many, their first time camping. One young lady was excited because she heard the stars were beautiful when you get outside the city and once we went star-gazing, she kept saying how she would never forget that view!
^ A ceremony held at the end of our trip – where club-members could receive praise from their community on how they saw them contribute.
